JOANN “JERRY” LESLIE
Jerry, beloved wife of Rick for 62 years died February 12, 2016. She loved her children, grandchildren and was the perfect grandmother smothering them with love and personal time, teaching them the nuances of her Polish heritage. Jerry and Rick met while he was in the Trade School and she attended Dominican High. After Rick served a 2 year Army tour in Korea, they were married October 1954. Rick joined the Alumni Association in 1985.
MARJORIE “MARGE” WAINEO
Marge, as she was known, passed away Feb. 26. Beloved wife of the late Dick Waineo. Loving mother, grandmother, gr-grandmother she will missed by her family and many friends. She enjoyed many functions of the Association and held office in the Women’s Golf Leagues.
DR. “SAM” GAFT
Sam died January 24, 2016 at the age of 85 in Silver Springs, Georgia. He will be missed by his loving family and friends throughout the community.
Sam was made an Honorary Member of the HFTSAA in 2010. His qualifications included his dissertation on “The HFTS, 1916-1952” in partial fulfillment for his Doctorate Degree at the University of Michigan. He made two trips to England to research Ford’s British “Trade School. Plus he was granted a sabbatical to interview HFTSAA members to document their experiences.
Beloved husband of Elaine, passed away February 5, 2016. Loving father, grandfather, gr-grandfather, Gene will be missed. A graduate of the Trade School, Class of 1942, ‘W” Section.
He was twice President of the HFTSAA and served several times on the Board of Directors. Also a member of the Retiree’s Club. He joined the Alumni Association in 1989.
He was truly a loved father and grandfather as evidenced by a letter written by his granddaughter, Erin, who, more eloquently than I ever could, eulogizes Gene and his life. Erin was 12 at the time she wrote this letter.
ROBERT J. MCCALL
Robert James McCall passed away on Monday August 24, 2015 at the age of 92 in Walla Walla, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, step father (Joseph Schafer), a brother and loving wife Virginia, Ginny, nee Bickman. Bob is survived by a large loving family including many grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
He attended the Trade School, graduating Class 1940, “T” Section, played intramural Baseball ’37, ’38, and “39.
Robert served his country in the Army Air Corps from 1943-45. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Wayne State University in 1949. Bob retired from the Ford Motor Company after 25 years, and continued working as a consultant for another 10 years. He also taught evening math courses at a local community college.
Bob joined the Alumni Association in 2002.
ADAM M. NIERADTKA
Adam passed away April 9, 2015.
Beloved husband of Uta. Adam attended the Trade School. While there he was on The Craftsman Staff and was Co Editor of The Craftsman Yearbook. Adam graduated in 1945.
He served his Country in WWII by attending Officers Candidate School, Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland, Fort Sheridan, Illinois, and Fort McClellan, Alabama.
He was a long time member of the Alumni Association, joining in 1953.
EDWARD J. RIOPELLE
Edward J. Riopelle died January 7, 2016 at the age of 82. Beloved husband of Kathleen for 56 years. Loving Dad of Andrea (Craig) Champagne, Charles, Marlisa Snider and Jennifer Valire (Ray Mayo. Proud Grandfather of 5. Also survived by many other loving family and friends.
Ed attended the Trade School, graduating Class 1952, the last graduating class of the Henry Ford Trade School before it closed the doors ending a historic era. Ed joined the Alumni Association in 1973..
